"What characteristics are perceived as valuable for an AI placed in a team meeting setting?"
Collaboration between AI and Humans in the workplace is rapidly increasing. Currently AI is predominantly used as a supportive tool. We, however, are convinced that to establish a natural and universally accepted integration of AI technologies into a work environment, the creation of these AI systems should originate from a more post human approach, levelling out the natural hierarchy by introducing AI as an equal team member. In this research we introduce the concept of a Post human AI team member, referring to an AI, placed in a team meeting setting, with an opinion and the ability of emotional expression, enabling humans and AI to naturally bond together.
The introduction of an AI teammate makes us wonder what characteristics ensure good integration of this AI in a business setting, and how one designs an intuitive interaction with this AI? That is how we came up with the research question stated above.
How did we do this? We created 4 different AI personas with individual distinct characteristics. In our tests we had different groups partake in discussions with the AI personas.Afterwards they would be interviewed on how they perceived and preferred each AI. After qualitative data analysis we found some interesting answers to our research question This project was so fun to do. Working with AI was new to me and I quickly learned its capabilities and limits.

It had been a while since I did my last research project, I loved diving into the analysis and making sense of the qualitative data. There was a lot to learn in the design of this academic study, as there is so much you need to take into account, like reproducibility and your sample group size.

I was also really inspired by the post human aspact of this project. We had a more post human attitude towards AI in this project, approaching the AI as an equal and decentering the humans from the equation. This is something very powerfull and valuable as I believe a post human approach is necessary for designers in order to stay relevant and deal with problems and question of the future.
